Public Enemy was a hardcore punk band from Tucson that played many hardcore shows between 1983 and 1985. They played at venues such as Backstage, Danger Zone, Wrex and others. Steve Schneer on vocals, Michael Gorman on guitar, Andy Vernon on drums, and Eric Snyder on bass. Andy Vernon passed in 2000 and Steve Schneer passed in 2014. Photos were taken on January 23, 1984 at Stumble Inn in Tucson.

America’s Hardcore in Tucson, September 4th, 1983. America’s HC was a band from Los Angeles that was active 1982 - 1983. Danny Slam vocals, Drew Bernstein guitar, Scott Kosar bass, and Aaron Glascock drums. Drew was in the Penelope Spheeris movie “Suburbia” leading the group of punks in the punk parade scene. Drew passed away in 2014.

In Tucson at the Stray Cat night club, April 11, 1983. Redd Kross was set to play first, but after the promoter heard them play for the sound check, he said they didn’t fit the bill and wouldn't let them perform. The Bangles invited them up for the encores. Dez Cadena was with Redd Kross for this show and joined The Bangles on stage with Steven and Jeff McDonald. During The Bangles set, Steven would shout “rock and roll goddesses” between songs.

Producer/engineer/musician, Steve English owned a recording studio in Tucson called the Sound Factory in the 80’s and early 90’s. Artists he recorded include Conflict U.S., Malignus Youth, Minutemen, River Roses, Thai Pink, Broken Horse, E.S.S., Chris Burroughs, The Hecklers, Al Perry And The Cattle.

At the Tucson Community Center Exhibition Hall, May 26, 1983. This was part of a short warm-up tour for their gig at the US Festival near San Bernadino. The US Festival show was two days later and would be Mick Jone’s last show with The Clash. The warm up band for this Tucson show was The Eager Beaver Boys (Charlie Sexton).

JFA (Jody Foster's Army) originally from Phoenix, are a hardcore punk band formed in 1981. Pictured are Brian Brannon on lead vocals, Don "Redondo" Pendleton on guitar, and Alan Bishop on bass. Brian Brannon and Don Redondo are currently in JFA. Alan Bishop, also known as Alvarius B, has been involved in many projects including the legendary Sun City Girls, Alvarius B, and a band based out of Cairo Egypt called The Invisible Hands (الأيادى الخفية). Unfortunately I only took a few photos at this show.
